Plannedcourse state
Coverage baselineApache Kafka 4.3-era Kafka Connect behavior with distributed workers, REST administration, connector/plugin development, error handling and offset management, plus vendor-neutral schema-management concepts for Avro, Protobuf, JSON Schema, compatibility policies, and open registry ecosystems

Course brief

Build integration pipelines by separating connector execution from serialization and schema governance: understand workers, tasks, offsets, internal topics, plugins, converters, registry compatibility, and delivery guarantees before scaling or automating the platform.

A comprehensive Kafka Connect and schema-management course covering standalone/distributed workers, connector/task architecture, internal topics, plugins, REST APIs, converters, SMTs, error handling, offsets, exactly-once boundaries, security, observability, source/sink development, Avro, Protobuf, JSON Schema, schema compatibility, subject/version strategies, open registries, CDC, deployment, and production governance.

This syllabus deliberately separates foundations, data/model semantics, internals, reliability, security, performance, operations, and production design so advanced material is not compressed into generic catch-all chapters.

By the end

You will be able to

  • Deploy and operate standalone and distributed Kafka Connect workers, manage connectors through REST, scale tasks, diagnose rebalances, and protect internal topics
  • Configure converters, headers, SMTs, predicates, retries, dead-letter queues, offset behavior, secrets, and connector-specific delivery guarantees
  • Develop and test custom source/sink connectors, transformations, converters, and plugins with clear partition/offset and idempotency semantics
  • Design Avro, Protobuf, and JSON Schema contracts with subject/version strategies, compatibility policies, schema evolution, references, and registry governance
  • Integrate CDC and common database/object-storage pipelines, secure the platform, observe it, deploy with GitOps practices, and perform safe upgrades
